Beckwith Trails

The Beckwith Trail network starting in Carleton Place is a group of 4 relatively short trails that are all connected either through links or concession roads. Total distance is just under 5 kilometers. What impressed us most was the quality of the trails, crushed stone where possible and board walks where necessary. They are the sort of trails that are for everyone. Flat easy walking with a variety of scenery.

A little side adventure was a little shack tucked away in the bush that we couldn’t really tell if it was once a sugar shack or a residence. It was a mysterious side trek.

We have walked the trails a few times and have been fortunate to see ducks, geese, deer, several species of song birds and a high lite of a pair of pilleated woodpeckers that weren’t as elusive as they normally are.

Carleton Place seems to take great pride in the natural beauty that surrounds its suburbia. Aside from the trails listed above there is also a section of the Trans Canada Trail which we have yet to do.
